Investing in Dublin's Families & Seniors
From childcare to senior housing, Dublin must invest in all generations.
Key Commitments
- Expand subsidized childcare slots
- Increase senior transportation options
- Fund youth after-school and recreation programs
A City for Every Generation
Dublin’s strength has always been its families. Young parents raising kids, grandparents aging in the community they helped build — this is what makes Dublin more than just a place to live. But right now, our city isn’t investing enough in the people who need it most.
The Childcare Crisis
Working families across Dublin are facing impossible choices. Childcare costs continue to climb, and waitlists stretch for months. For dual-income households — which describes most of Dublin — affordable, accessible childcare isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity. Shivraj will push to expand subsidized childcare slots and partner with employers to bring care closer to where families live and work.
Seniors Deserve Better
The Regional Street Senior Housing project offers just 113 units for a city of nearly 75,000 people. That’s not a plan — it’s a placeholder. Dublin’s seniors need more housing options, better transportation services, and programs that keep them connected to the community they’ve spent decades building.
Investing in Our Youth
After-school programs, recreation leagues, and youth enrichment aren’t extras — they’re the foundation of a safe, thriving community. Funding gaps have left too many kids without structured activities. Shivraj will champion budget priorities that reflect Dublin’s values: investing in people from toddlers to grandparents.
“A city that doesn't invest in its children and its elders has lost sight of what matters. Dublin can do better — and we will.”
